Find Your Zoned School
Your child attends the school zoned to your home address. Use the School Finder tool at vcsedu.org or call the District: (386) 734-7190. Your home address determines placement — confirm before completing enrollment.
Create a Parent Portal Account
All online enrollment runs through Focus Parent Portal. Go to vcsedu.org → Parent Portal and create an account using a personal (non-employer) email address. This account connects you to grades, attendance, and all communications. Required First Step
Complete the Online Application
Log into your Parent Portal and click "Apply for Enrollment" for each child. Complete and submit. If you lack internet access, a kiosk is available at your zoned school's front desk. Paper forms are a last resort but can be downloaded from vcsedu.org.
Gather Required Documents
Bring all of the following to your zoned school:

Florida requires children to be 5 years old by September 1 to start kindergarten. If interested in the Extended Day Enrichment Program (EDEP), register through myschoolbucks.com — registration opens in July once kindergarteners are in the system. Contact your school for EDEP availability.
School Choice (Optional)
Want a school outside your zone? Apply through the School Choice Department during open enrollment (January–March each year). Approval depends on capacity. Contact: schoolchoice@volusia.k12.fl.us or (386) 734-7190. Apply early — most schools fill up.

Florida offers free VPK to all children turning 4 by September 1. Register through the Early Learning Coalition of Flagler & Volusia. Find providers and apply at elcfv.org. VPK is available as a school-year program (540 hours) or summer option (300 hours).

YMCA Before & After Care

VCS School Bus Transportation
Volusia County Schools provides school bus service to eligible students. Eligibility is based on distance from school and grade level. Contact your school's main office or the Student Transportation Department at vcsedu.org to confirm routes and stop locations for your address.

Volusia County's public bus system. 39 routes, 1,849 stops across the county. Covers Daytona Beach, Port Orange, Ormond Beach, DeLand, Deltona, DeBary, New Smyrna Beach & more.
